Shujuan Li is a full member of the Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), holding Diplomas in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture and qualified to prescribe, blend and administer traditional herbal medicine plus acupuncture and Tuina massage therapy. Shujuan is not only professionally qualified but comes from a Chinese family rooted in a long-standing relationship and experience with TCM.
Our bodies are quite adept at repairing themselves. We use methods that aid that natural ability with holistic treatments including acupuncture, nutrition, herbal remedies and physical manipulations, such as tuina massage and cupping.
We believe many illnesses are caused by the toxins in our foods. Avoiding manufactured ingredients and pesticides reduces the harmful substances entering our bodies. Replacing them with cleaner, more organically grown food and natural plant remedies aids the body in healing itself and preventing future disease.

Medical acupuncture is the use of acupuncture following a medical diagnosis. It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles.
This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins. It's likely that these naturally released substances are responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture.
A course of acupuncture usually creates longer lasting pain relief than when a single treatment is used.
Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that an energy, or "life force", flows through the body in channels called meridians. This life force is known as Qi (pronounced "chee").
Practitioners who use acupuncture in the traditional way believe that when Qi does not flow freely through the body, this can cause illness. They also believe acupuncture can restore the flow of Qi, and so restore health.

Tuina or tui-na (pronounced twee-nah) massage originated in ancient China and is believed to be the oldest system of bodywork. It’s one of the four main branches of traditional Chinese medicine, along with acupuncture, qi gong, and Chinese herbal medicine.
It’s based on the theory that imbalances of qi (pronounced chee), which is the body’s vital life force or energy, can cause blockages or imbalances that lead to symptoms such as pain and illness.
Tuina massage stimulates the flow of qi to promote balance and harmony within the body using many of the same principles of acupuncture.
It’s similar to acupuncture in the way it targets specific acupoints, but practitioners use fingers instead of needles to apply pressure to stimulate these points. Tuina massage is often used in combination with acupuncture
In 2003, the World Health Organisation (WHO) listed a number of conditions in which they say acupuncture has proven effective.
These include;
High and low blood pressure
certain gastric conditions including peptic ulcer
Painful periods
Allergic rhinitis
Facial pain
Morning sickness
Rheumatoid arthiritis
Sprains
Tennis elbow
Sciatica
Dental pain
Reducing risk of stroke and
Inducing Labour

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a branch of traditional medicine that is said to be based on more than 3,500 years of Chinese medical practice that includes various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping therapy, gua sha, massage (tui na), bonesetter (die-da), exercise (qigong), and dietary therapy,[1] but recently also influenced by modern Western medicine. TCM is widely used in the Sinosphere where it has a long history, and in later years it has also beenincreasingly practiced across the globe. One of the basic tenets of TCM is that the body's vital energy (ch'i or qi) is circulating through channels, called meridians, that have branches connected to bodily organs and functions. Concepts of TCM reflect its ancient origins and the contents of herbal medicines are entirely natural and blended by Shujuan Li, following a comprehensive consultation.
As well as being a qualified TCM, acupuncture and Tuina practitioner, Shujuan is qualified as a nurse in western medicine so her examinations and consultations are carried out using an arguably wider knowledge base than some other clinics. You can have confidence in her knowledge and manner.
